Undergraduate Field Course
A field course is run annually as part of a module in Community Ecology for 3rd year students at University of Pretoria (ZEN 353). The Sani Pass is an ideal place to conduct the course as students can gain first-hand experience of the different environmental conditions across the gradient and can see the effect of these on plant and animal life.
Students learn how to apply various sampling techniques and experimental design principles in the field. They gain valuable field experience in this unique environment and then analyse the data that they have collected once they return to the laboratory.
Students who take this module are typically doing a BSc degree in Zoology, Ecology, Plant Science or Environmental Science.
